Hilman provided a modified Traksporter with two custom carts capable of moving Subsea/Christmas trees.Subsea trees can be used on both surface and subsea wells and are used to monitor and control the production of oil.The tree in the above photo was approximately 55 tons. This package included a main power unit, remote-controlled crawler, a Turtleback assembly, and the customized cart creating a total load capacity of 100 metric tons. The rear section of the cart used custom 37.5 metric ton capacity poly-wheeled rollers mounted on a rocking assembly affording the cart articulation over the plant’s floor and tool-less removal for maintenance. The power unit was modified with a hydraulic oil cooler to prevent overheating in warmer climates.
Each cart was rated at a 100 metric ton load capacity and had (2) 75 ton hydraulic landing gear cylinders and (1) 50 ton maintenance cylinder. These cylinders also had swivel feet integrated within the design based on the customer’s specific needs for their application.
